A Bit About On Point Dog Sports LLC

Barn Hunt Intro to Master Level

My goal in starting On Point Dog Sports was to offer a place for dogs and handlers of all levels to learn and train the fun sport of Barn Hunt. We offer 2 rings to train in. One is a Senior/Master size ring & ring 2 is Intro/Novice/Open Size ring and Keri Ensign(a Barn Hunt Judge) designs all of our courses for classes. Classes are offered in a Pole Barn behind my house. On Point is expanding to offer Scent Work & Shed Hunt training opportunities as well.

Emily Bennett

My love of dogs and competitive nature was the perfect mix to get addicted to dog sports. I currently compete in Conformation, Barn Hunt, Scent Work, FASTCAT, and Agility.

My first experience with Barn Hunt was over 4 years ago and I have been hooked ever since. As my dogs got more competitive, I realized there was a need for classes utilizing a full-size ring. This is where On Point Dog Sports was born.

I currently compete with 3 dogs at the Master/Champion level. Renzo(Bracco Italiano), JoJo(GSP), & Tipsy(Bracco Italiano). I'm also competing at Master Level and Detective in AKC Scent Work.

I love training and enjoy helping dogs(and their people) find something they both enjoy. I believe in an all-positive training philosophy and nothing makes me excited than a dog truly blossom and watching the human-dog relationship grow."

"I have been involved in Barn Hunt since 2018 and have titled multiple dogs and multiple breeds. My lab/husky has her RATCHX title, my GSP has her Senior title and my standard poodle and German Shephard have their Master titles. I have taught several classes at CATC for all the levels of Barn Hunt for the last 2-3 years. I have chaired trials and served as trial secretary for several events and I have been a licensed judge since March 2022."

"I've been passionate about dogs from a young age, beginning with 4H and later as a foster for a rescue group. In 2021, my Doberman, Maze, came into my life, and we dove into the world of dog sports, starting first with FastCAT and CAT. Maze loved the excitement of running, but Barn Hunt brought a new level of teamwork. Instead of just sprinting, we're now focusing on scent detection, strategy, and problem-solving. The connection we have in Barn Hunt is special and seeing her work in sync with me is amazing. Helping other teams get started in Barn Hunt has been equally exciting! It's so great to watch new dog-handler teams discover how much fun it can be. I love seeing the experience the "aha" moments, where the connection between them and their dog clicks."

Master was a big jump from squeaking through a Novice title after the dogs got to try their paws at barn hunt twice in an introductory clinic.

On Point Dog Sports provides a full size ring that accommodates all levels. There is always a masters tunnel. It has been so helpful to be able to practice masters in this environment. There is not another option in central Ohio that I am aware of that can provide a regulation size ring! Emily and Keri has helped us overcome a significant tunneling issue. They know my dog well and customize our searches to help us build skills where we have weaknesses. Since starting classes, we have really grown as a team. I feel like we have improved significantly in the last 6 months. I’ve observed them working with other dogs and they put as much effort into each dog, helping meeting each team where they are. Everyone who attends the classes and run throughs have expressed significant satisfaction. I also love that we have a new venue to trial in central Ohio. I’m looking forward to more classes soon as well as the improvements they are planning.
